Welcome to The Racing Collector, an online community devoted to the hobby of collecting ANYTHING racing-related! The goal of The Racing Collector is to provide a venue for collectors to gather and discuss the hobby. There is a lot of work yet to do on the site, including finishing up the price guides and trading center. However, feel free to discuss anything in the forums or share your cards in the gallery. As always, thanks again for stopping by The Racing Collector!
There are two levels of membership here at The Racing Collector. Most of the features on the site are absolutely FREE! However, an annual subscription to the site will increase your gallery storage from 25MB to 250MB and allow you to list unlimited items in the classifieds section, for NO CHARGE! Free members can still list, but each listing costs just $0.05. That's right! Just a nickel to sell your items in our classifieds section!
Members are the MOST important part of this site. We need you, our members, to provide content for the site. There is a vast range of experience in the collecting hobby, from the very beginner collector to those who have been doing it for years. We're looking for that experience in articles and posts on the forums. Feel free to jump in and help out anywhere you can!
There is a forger out on ebay! His name was mrlaheyrules, but he has since changed his name to bosohio. He purchased the following card on July 31, 2010, SN 58/99:
And had this one for sale, which ended August 13, 2010 (ended early after being called out, I imagine):
Here they are side by side. Look at the marks at the top right of the piece of sheet metal:
Did you ever wonder where on Earth that piece of sheet metal in your card came from? Sometimes it can be quite a task to find it. After all, if you only have one color to look at, there's not much of a chance you'll figure out the exact spot on the car it came from. However, when that piece of sheet metal is a decal, you CAN find it! The picture below is where the piece of sheet metal in my 2010 Press Pass Showcase Elite Exhibit Materials card of Jimmie Johnson came from. I had a bit of fun searching for the spot on the car!
Quite a sweet 1/1 card from 2010 Press Pass Showcase of Matt Kenseth. This 1/1 autographed patch card brought in a sweet $684.51 at auction. Yet another AMAZING pull from 2010 Press Pass Showcase!
It should be no surprise that racing's hottest driver the past few years would bring big dollars at a 1/1 auction. The auction for his 1/1 firesuit patch autographed card in 2010 Press Pass Showcase topped out at $580.00. Now, that's a SWEET pull!
