The Racing Collector was founded by Ronnie Sherard (jimmiefan) in February 2004 with the intent of creating a community for collectors of racing related items to gather, discuss, and share informaton regarding the collecting hobby. In the early stages, The Racing Collector was based on phpNuke, a well-rounded content management system. However, in late 2005, a decision was made to begin working on a custom designed content management system to incorporate all of the ideas in order to make a collecting site stand out. Much of the base code for the site was completed in 2010 and put into testing for most of 2011. With successful tests of the underlying code, the decision was made in August of 2011 to incorporate phpBB as the user management base for the site, rather than utilizing the custom registration and log in capabilities. After two months of work, the phpBB powered Racing Collector site debuted on October 3, 2011.
 

To provide a premiere environment for collectors of racing related items by maintaining an online community presence and connecting collectors with other collectors, manufacturers, and dealers around the world in a continually growing market.
