Quite a spectacular autograph, if you ask me. The Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Tony Stewart autograph card fetched $449.44 on Ebay. Of course, the fact that it was number 2 of just 5 in the parallel helped it out quite a bit. Still, a very nice card, regardless of the version!
If you've been collecting racing cards for some time and looked for them on Ebay, you'll know what I mean when I say stick and ball collectors are out to lunch. This one, for example, is so outrageous that it's actually quite funny.
This auction is for a Danica Patrick autographed sheet metal card of which only 25 were made. The card is numbered 07/25, with the 7 being Danica's rookie car number. The hefty price tag of $4,999 is what adds humor to this auction. And, if you look at the seller's id, baseballcardstoreonline, you can see this seller obviously thinks Danica has a superb reputation in the racing world. The fact is, she has been less than spectacular this season in either IRL or NASCAR. So, baseballcardstoreonline, good luck with that one. This is an auction I am going to continue watching!

Graded cards are, in some aspects, a sought after commodity. After all, those who take the time and effort to send their cards into a grading service, such as Beckett or PSA, can see some fruitful returns over the years. Graded cards in other hobbies such as football, baseball, and basketball have really taken off. However, in the racing hobby, it seems there is some resistance to the graded card movement.
After dabbling with SMF on another web site, I decided that it was likely the best possible CMS to use for The Racing Collector. As some of you who have been around for a while know, I was trying to build a system from scratch. While I got a good start at it, there are just so many hours in the day and I haven't been able to develop it much further. I hate putting things off and I really want this site to be popular. So, I made the decision to halt my development and move to an SMF-based site. I look forward to incorporating the trading list and price guide code I developed into SMF. All of the information is still there, I just need to move it over and get it talking with the SMF code. However, I'm all about providing a positive community for users to meet, talk, and share information. And, that is exactly what The Racing Collector will do!
